Doctor, I'm considered petite but I have these gigantic breasts, and I hate granny looking bras. I've tried Lane Bryant, but their band sizes don't start until size 40, and have a couple from Victoria's Secret, but is there any other store that carries size 36 DD's? I know Aerie carries them but you have to order them online. Has anyone had any luck with bras from Aerie's? I don't want to waste money on shipping costs if I'm going to have to send them straight back.

Ok, here's my advice:

You must do whatever it takes to wear a supportive bra! The bras may look a little "granny-like", but it is better than your breast looking like a "sagging grandmother"...

Here is what to look for in a bra:

A supportive cup that pushes your breast up giving you even more cleavage. That means shoulder straps that do not stretch on either side of the adjustable strap buckle. VERY frequently the shoulder strap will be supportive over-the-shoulder and in front, but NOT behind the buckle.

It might be hard to find a supportive and cute bra, but it is critical that you do so. The reduction or lift surgery (mastopexy) is a horrible scar-producing surgery that you may need someday, but with excellent support you may be able to put that surgery off a long time. Bra-less ONLY when you sleep. Consider wearing a shower bra to give youself support during that time if you really are "gigantic".

You might feel they are a curse, but to many they would be a blessing. Take good care to them :)

Best wishes!

Why did the liposuction patient die?

I've received a number of questions regarding the unfortunate recent death of a patient undergoing liposuction in South Florida. I will not mention the patient's name out of respect to her and her family.

While the autopsy hasn't been released by the Broward county medical examiner some information can be gathered from the recently released 911 call from the surgery center.

I disclaim that I don't have a way to know with certainty the cause of the death, however, the available information gives me a great degree of suspicion as to the most possible cause.

The 911 call reveals that the patient had been treated with "general anesthesia". Numerous scientific studies show that most adverse consequences of a cosmetic procedure occur when the procedure is performed using general anesthesia. In my opinion no cosmetic procedure should be performed under general anesthesia. I perform all my procedures with local anesthesia with the patient awake, to avoid so many of the risks of "going under".

I believe once the autopsy report is released the death cause will be cardiac arrest (heart attack) or a pulmonary embolism, both common risks of surgery associated with general anesthesia.

I hope this answers your questions regarding this sad and unfortunate event, and I hope it helps you and your loved ones!

Please seek cosmetic surgeons proficiently trained in local anesthesia for your aesthetic needs!
